Raise the Roof!

Come and see our amazingly talented dancers perform in the next School show!

The show will be held at Mitchell Arts Centre, Hanley, on 9th July at 2pm and 7pm, and 10th July at 2pm.

January 2015 - Dance 015 Festival

Students performed at the Regent Theatre on 23rd and 31st January 2015 as part of the Dance 015 Festival.

August 2014

Summer Workshops - held 5-7 August, 12-14 August, and 19-21 August

What a fantastic three weeks of workshops we have had. Excellent work from everyone that came and took part. I am so proud of everyone and what you have all achieved!

The workshops involved Ballet, Technique, Pointe, Limbering, Arts and Crafts, Musical Theatre, Singing, Jazz/Street, and Contemporary. There was Repertoire from The Sleeping Beauty, and students learned dances and songs from the Pyjama Game, Frozen and much more.

The recent School shows were a big success - the students were all amazing and we are so proud with how they all performed. Thank you to everyone involved!

For the first time, trophies were awarded - congratulations to the winners Amy, Lucy, Emma, Lori, Sarah, Ricky, Lois, Jessica, Katie and Kirsty!

September 2013

WE ARE MOVING... I am very excited to announce that the dance school is relocating to Hilltop Business Centre, Coalpit Hill, Talke, ST7 1PW.

For some years now we have been looking for new premises and have struggled to find somewhere that will allow us to expand as a school and stay central to our current customer base. The new studios are currently under going major renovations but we hope our first classes will run on Saturday 7th September. The new premises has two studios equipped with mirrors, barres and dance flooring, changing facilities and a huge car park! We have new classes starting in the Autumn term including Adult Ballet, pre school mums and tots ballet and many more.

The staff at the Jenny Brennan School of Dance look forward to welcoming current and new pupils in September. See you all there!

July 2013

Heidi Rolph-Stott and Amy Harrison have been accepted on to the Royal Ballet Schools mid Associate programme.

Frances Rosiak and Scarlett Murray have been accepted onto Elmhurst school for dance associate programme.

Becky Elsmore has successfully auditioned for Hammond school Chester and will start in September.

Amy Harrison has successfully auditioned for Elmhurst school for dance and will start in September.

June 2013 - "A Presentation of Dance"

A Presentation of Dance
13 July 2013 - 1pm and 6pm performances

An opportunity to come and see the dance school students show off their exam and class work. You will get the chance to see them perform a selection of work from the RAD ballet and ISTD modern and Tap exam syllabi as well as jazz, musical theatre and contemporary dances, giving you a rare glimpse behind the scenes.
A great night out with some great dance performances to enjoy!

Lori Hopkinson has successfully auditioned for Art Ed, Tring and Northern Ballet School.

Becky Elsmore has successfully auditioned for Arts Ed, Tring and been offered a funded place at Hammond School, Chester.

Heidi Rolph-Stott has successfully auditioned for the Hammond Associates.

Francesca Lynn won her level at the RAD Challenge Genee Competition in Birmingham.

Congratulations to Ellis Whitehurst who has successfully auditioned for the Regent Theatre pantomine of Aladdin.

Congratulations also go Amy Harrison and Chloe Harrison who have both successfully auditioned for the Crewe Pantomine, tbc.

July 2011 - Successes and Achievements

Alisia Bould has been awarded a place on the degree course at Urdang and we wish her all the best for her three year vocational training. 1200 people applied for the course for only 37 places - an exceptional achievement!

Amy Harrison has been accepted on to the Hammond Associate Programme with a half scholarship.

Heidi Rolph-Stott has been accepted on to the Royal Ballet's Junior Associate programme and the Elmhurst Pre-Vocational Programme (both in Manchester).

Congratulations to Anina Pletscher, Heidi Stott, Ruth Attwood, Jessica Akehurst, Francine Collis and Lori Hopkinson who have all successfully auditioned for Fame at the Regent Theatre in the summer holidays. Anina was successful in her audition for the part of Iris. Fame will be on 18th, 19th and 20th August.

Following a workshop and interview, Anina Pletscher and Ruth Attwood have been offered places on the Lowry Centre for Advanced Training in Dance. Well done girls!

Congratulations to Francesca Lynn and Anina Pletscher who got through to the junior and senior finals of the ISTD Janet Cram modern competition in London. Anina was awarded the class prize in her heat.

May 2011

ENGLISH YOUTH BALLET (EYB) – Chloe Bloor, Lydia Bowyer, Mollie Burns, Holly Carter, Emma Davis, Lauren Davis, Imogen Dowell, Becky Elsmore, Amy Harrison, Lori Hopkinson, Brittany Leese, Francecsa Lynn, Lily Mason, Sarah Mason, Isabel Patrick, Grace Picken, Anina Pletscher successfully auditioned for The English Youth Ballet's production of the Nutcracker.
Francesca and Lori were awarded the junior and senior scholarships respectively.
Performance dates – 24/25th June Regent Theatre, Hanley

Ruth Attwood successfully auditioned for the Nutcracker in Shrewsbury. Performance dates 22/23rd July

Francesca Lynn has been accepted into Elmhurst School for Dance with an MDS funded place (music and dance scheme), and starts her training in September. Francesca will join Hope Johnson who will be moving into year 8. [...continued below...]

March 2011

Many pupils recently performed for the Alsager Roundtable and Alsager Rotary Club Grand Variety Show in March.

Francesca Lynn has successfully auditioned for a coveted place at Elmhurst School for Dance (in association with the Birmingham Royal Ballet). Francesca was awarded an MDS (music and dance scheme) place and will commence training in September 2011. She is currently a Junior Associate of the Royal Ballet School and an associate of Elmhurst School for Dance.

September 2010

Congratulations to Francesca Lynn who won her section at the Royal Academy of Dance Genee Dance Challenge, at the Birmingham Royal Ballet. Francesca will perform her winning solo at Supper with the Stars in November and has been awarded two tickets to the final of the International Genee competition at Sadler's Wells Theatre.

Congratulations to Chloe Harrison and Shannon Webb who have successfully auditioned for Crewe pantomime. They will be appearing in Aladdin with stars from Waterloo Road.

May 2010 - "A Night at the Museum"

The School's fifth show was held at Hanley Museum. It was a huge success and a big thank you to everyone involved.

Through the raffle and collections/donations, £150 was rasied for Douglas MacMillan Hospice.

The next show will be at the Forum Theatre, Hanley Museum on 6, 7, 8, May 2010.

February 2009 - 09 Dance article and West Side Story

See the article that appeared in the 16 January 09 issue of The Sentinel newspaper about the 09 Dance at The Regent Theatre in Hanley.

Jenny Brennan provided the choreography for the Birmingham Conservatoire's production of West Side Story at the Crescent Theatre from 12-14 June 2008.

January 2009 - Newsletter

Pupils achieved excellent results in the Royal Academy of Dance and Imperial Society Teachers of Dancing examinations, maintaining a 100% success rate. Our next exams are Modern and Tap in February and Ballet in March.

Chloe Harrison, Faye Podmore, Ellis Whitehurst, Shannon Webb and Siobahn Webb successfully auditioned for Jack and the Beanstalk pantomime at the Crewe Lyceum; Miriam Mould performed in Arabian Nights at the New Vic; and Hope Johnson appeared in Cinderella pantomime at the Queens Theatre, Burslem.

Francesca Lynn, Eve Reynolds and Thomas Scott were accepted onto the Elmhurst School for Dance Pre-Vocational programme joining Francine Collis and Hope Johnson; and Abigail Blackburn has been offered a place at Laine Theatre Arts, Epsom.

Away studying at Vocational School are:
Karla Doorbar – Royal Ballet School, Laura Reid – Northern Ballet School, and Lucy Shenton – Elmhurst School for Dance.

We look forward to a successful 2009 and wish everyone a Happy New Year.

July 2008 - "Step in Time"

A big thank you to everyone who was involved in the School's fourth show, "Step in Time", which was very successful and well received.

The raffle that was held on Saturday raised £147.55 for Cancer Research UK.

The show took place at the Mitchell Memorial Theatre in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, on Thursday, 10th July to Saturday 12th July 2008.
